Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there any age or size limits my pet must meet in order to be trained?

A: Before you start training, your pet should already be well adjusted to the home environment. There are no minimum or maximum size limits, but we do recommend your pet be at least 8 weeks old before training begins.

Q: How long is it going to take to train my dog to the fence?

A: Most dogs are usually trained in about six days.  Our gentle training method not only greatly reduces the amount of time it takes to train your pet, but is also more humane than our competitors' techniques.

Q: Does the "correction" really hurt? Will it harm my pet?

A: No, it will not harm your pet. The correction is safe, harmless and humane. It is just effective enough to STARTLE the dog. The correction produces less energy than that produced by a static shock from carpeting.

Q:  Can I use an underground dog fence if my dog is aggressive?

A: No, unless the new underground fence is going to be supporting a pre-existing wooden or chain-link fence. We don't recommend using corrections on an aggressive dog and suggest you seek a veterinarian's advice for other training options.

Q: How can I tell when the receiver batteries need replacing?

A: In most cases, the battery will last from 5 to 8 months, depending on how often your dog tests the boundary. When getting low, a battery indicator light will flash on the receiver, letting you know and giving you time to replace the batteries before they expire.

Q:  Is American Dog Fencing associated with Invisible Fence®, Petsafe®, PetSafe® Pro, Radio Fence®, Dogwatch®,  DogGuard®  or ANY other pet fence brand than Pet Stop®?

A: No.  American Dog Fencing is an authorized Pet Stop® dealer.  As an independant pet fence contractor, American Dog Fencing may sell and/or service other brands of electric pet containment, including product upgrades, exchanges or trade-ins, and replacements.
